It was a highly informative visit which helped students by familiarizing them with the working of the textile industry and the various stages involved in the cloth making process.
The aim of the session was to provide them with an exposure to industrial landscape and real time working environments in the concerned industry.
Established by the Grover family of Chandigarh, Amartex was set up in 1988 as a small cloth-manufacturing unit. Starting with a modest capital, it is today a fully integrated manufacturing Company, boasting of an impressive turnover of Rs. 500 crores and targeting 1000 Crores.

Amartex, a fully integrated manufacturing company is a balance of marketing and manufacturing. The industry consisted of separate weaving units, the dyeing section and the drying area, where high quality products are manufactured. The industrial visit to ‘Coca-cola factory, Amritsar’ was held in the year 2014- 2015. It was a highly informative visit which helped students by familiarizing them with the working of the soft drink manufacturing industry and the various stages involved in the process.
The Coca-Cola Company, an American multinational beverage corporation and manufacturer, is the largest retailer and marketer of non-alcoholic beverages.
The visit started with an introductory session by the General Manager who provided information about the products offered, quality standards followed by them and the basic preparatory process of their products. The students were then shown around the manufacturing plant, briefing them about the various steps involved in the manufacturing process.
The first step in the process involved sorting and cleansing of glass bottles. They were then visually inspected to ensure that they were clean, not chipped and not cracked. The concentrated beverage base and a liquid sweetener were then combined to form the syrup from which the drink was made.
The final syrup was mixed with the treated water and the correct amount of carbon dioxide, ensuring a gassy element to the final product. The students were amazed to see how a test-tube sized structure was blown up with hot air to obtain a 2.5 L plastic bottle. The clean bottle was filled and almost instantly passed to the capping machine. They were then inspected again to ensure the product is filled correctly and that all caps or crowns fit properly and do not leak and passed on for distribution.
The visit concluded with an interactive session for the students, where they got an opportunity to interact with the concerned authorities and gain more knowledge on the production process. The trip included over 90 students from various branches, visiting the industry. It was a great learning experience for one and all.
